Van donated to women’s shelter


A new minivan, donated by a Columbia man, will help WINGS continue its mission helping abused women.

Dick Jordan donated the vehicle this week, and Executive Director Allen Williams says it will be a big help to the organization, which has shelters in Columbia and McComb for women and children victims of domestic violence.

Board smart on sales tax

For too long the state and federal governments have either cut spending to local governments or required new spending without allocating any funds for it. That allows politicians at those higher-up levels to brag on themselves without having to bite the bullet and face the on-the-ground consequences.
