McKenna Spencer welcomed

Megan Pounds and Chris Spencer would like to announce the birth of their child, a daughter named McKenna Irene Spencer. The baby was born July 11, 2018, at 5:27 p.m. Birth weight was 7 pounds. Length was 20 inches.

Schools kick off year

They did it in different ways, but the message was the same as teachers from the Columbia and Marion County school districts prepared for the start of school this week.

In Columbia, students head back to the books on Monday, and Marion County students will follow suit on Tuesday. This week, each district hosted a day of preparation.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in Cook-Galloway Memorial Chapel for Louis D. “Mook” Allen, 60, of Columbia, who died on Tuesday, July 3.

Cook-Galloway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
