Union precinct will move

Voters in the Union precinct in eastern Marion County will change locations for future elections.
The Board of Supervisors unanimously voted Monday to move the polling place from a privately owned building on Lampton Hilltop Road to the Keno Fire Station at the corner of East Baylis Chapel and Lampton Hilltop roads.




FAA, EPA concerns may delay county’s shooting range

Federal regulations about shooting near airports and lead in the environment may delay construction of a firing range for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The Federal Aviation Administration and Environmental Protection Agency both have rules that would affect a potential range, the Board of Supervisors learned this week.


Post Office board has no members

No $69 billion private corporation would dare operate without a single member on its board of directors. Although those positions do not run the day-to-day operations, they are essential for providing the high-level guidance and strategy that any company needs to remain competitive.

Society seems to be finally turning the battle against prescription pain pill abuse, even though it will still take many years to win the war. Gov. Phil Bryant’s opioid task force commission, which issued its report last year, offered many sound ideas that are beginning to be implemented.
