Year per member of victim’s family

A Lumberton man received a 15-year sentence Tuesday afternoon — one year for each immediate family member of the Foxworth woman he killed while driving drunk.

Eric Lucas was sworn in as a member of the Columbia School District Board of Trustees Aug. 9, and the board wasted no time getting down to business with the beginning of the school year.

City to explore annexation


The City of Columbia may grow its borders if a study approved by the Board of Aldermen Monday shows the expansion is feasible.

In a special meeting Monday, the Board, Mayor Justin McKenzie and engineers Jeff Dungan and Sean Burns met with Mike Slaughter of Slaughter and Associates for nearly two hours at City Hall.
