While it wasn’t set in stone at the time, the Columbia Lady Wildcats (11-8, 5-3) took over second place in the Region 8 standings last Thursday with a 9-4 home win over West Marion (10-5, 5-3), who dropped to third.

In case you missed it, there was a big local baseball series in town this week.
Columbia and West Marion played two games this week, one on Tuesday in Foxworth at Trojan Field, and the second at John Sapen Field in Columbia on Wednesday night.

They began their week March 20 with a convincing 19-4 home win over Jefferson Davis County, highlighted by a 13-run second inning.
