Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.18, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Emily Cranford, 88, of Columbia, who died on Monday, Feb. 13, in Columbia. Interment will be in the Cook Family Cemetery. Bro. Whest Shirley and Bro. Kenny Peavey will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was a faithful member of Edna Baptist Church. She loved flower gardening, quilting, reading and people. She taught elementary school students for 40 years. She had a sincere concern for everyone- a small lady with a big heart- and loved being Nana to her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren Henry and Annie Alice White Cook; brothers, Charles “Bud” Cook and William “Bill” Cook, and sister-in-law, Elsie Fortenberry.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Kenneth Cranford of Columbia; sons, Lowell Cranford (Denise) of Ackerman and Keith Cranford (Laura Meritt) of Austin, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Probst (Tommy) of Vidalia, La.; sisters, Julia Nell “Cookie” Porter (Glyn) and Sybil White, both of Columbia; brother-in-law, Roland Cranford of Edwards; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tom Porter, Adam Probst, Joseph Purvis, Doug Trice, Mike Childress and Javan Porter.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
