Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Charles "Skipper" Pounds, 58, of Foxworth, who died on Sunday, Feb. 5, at his residence. Interment was in the Lott Cemetery. Lloyd Herring officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Hathorn Funeral Home.

As a longtime resident of Marion County, Charles loved sitting on his porch near Ten Mile Creek, coon hunting and riding his Harley with friends. When young, he was a very accomplished pitcher at Pascagoula High School. He was generous, loyal and loved his family and friends deeply, leaving a powerful mark on everyone he came in contact with. The words he spoke carried weight because he was a man of his word.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Pounds, and brother, William "Billy" Pounds.

Survivors include his son, Edward Pounds (Anna) of Columbia; daughters, Jessica Christian (Jonathan) of Denver, Colo. and Savannah Pounds of Foxworth; mother, Kathy Pounds of Moss Point; sisters, De'Wanna Morris of Humble, Texas and Donna Allen of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Gabriel Pounds and Katherine Pounds, both of Columbia and Chloe Pounds, Tori Hopkins and Emberlee Christian, all of Denver, Colo.

Pallbearers were Mike Lee, T.J. Pounds, Shane Sumrall, Wayne Barber, Bobby Bedwell and Ryan Stringer.

Honorary Pallbearer was Randy Sumrall.
