More bull about grad rates

Mississippi education officials have mostly gotten a free pass over the state’s trumped up graduation rate. Every year they tout improved numbers, and conveniently leave out the details about how they got to that point. Namely, they’ve done it by lowering the standards that it takes to get a diploma.

Smugglers busted

A paraplegic woman and an inmate are now facing charges after allegedly conspiring to get marijuana into the Marion-Walthall Correctional Facility via their most sensitive areas. Officers seized the pot Sunday after the bizarre encounter.







Make our roads great again

Sometimes we wonder how the infrastructure of this great nation was ever born. Think about if we had to create all of our roads and bridges that crisscross the United States from scratch. We don’t even have the money now to repave our poorly conditioned roads, much less build new ones.


Architect surveys Ford home

An architect writing a book about the historic houses of the Gulf Coast region calls the John Ford Home “the most important house that has never been measured and drawn.”

Until now, that is.

Gregory Free of Austin, Texas, was busy surveying every detail of the more than 200-year-old dwelling Monday in Sandy Hook.
