Architect surveys Ford home

An architect writing a book about the historic houses of the Gulf Coast region calls the John Ford Home “the most important house that has never been measured and drawn.”

Until now, that is.

Gregory Free of Austin, Texas, was busy surveying every detail of the more than 200-year-old dwelling Monday in Sandy Hook.

City to explore annexation

The City of Columbia may grow its borders if a study approved by the Board of Aldermen Monday shows the expansion is feasible.

In a special meeting Monday, the Board, Mayor Justin McKenzie and engineers Jeff Dungan and Sean Burns met with Mike Slaughter of Slaughter and Associates for nearly two hours at City Hall.
